well, if any of you thought that taxi drivers in singapore are reckless, you can try taking the taxis in guangzhou. every single trip feels like a fusion between initial d and those hollywood car chase movies. it was so heart pounding that i heard my dad exclaim out loud for the first time when we almost collided with a gargantuan bus who was also attempting to drift into our lane. ok.. scratch that. THERE WERE NO LANES!!!!!! i really have to kowtow to all the drivers in guangzhou for their amazing driving skills. i still think that it was a miracle to have survived without a single scratch. oh and if you think the pedestrian crossing at tampines mall is bad, you should check out how pedestrians mob the cars in the shopping districts in guangzhou. its totally mind boggling.
Initially being skeptic singaporeans and all, we found the hotel acceptable albeit being old. But due to my fantastic internet skills, it was located in a prime shopping location. kaching kaching! first day was spent just getting a feel of beijing lu.. which to our dismay didn't sell really affordable stuff.. which will change later... cos apparently it was pre-mothers day and they finally unleashed their ferocity with the weekend mother's day sale which totally rocked. But comparatively, i think shang xia jiu was better area to spend ur money at. it was like bugis and far east times 1000. actually, i think i didn't really finish walking the entire stretch of shops even after spending 2 days there. shopping at these areas during the weekend is madness. i've never ever seen so many pple in my life, all shopping together tt is. and seriously, singaporean kids need to catch up... i think they have a wider diversity of funky kids than us. -_-" sigh. wad a change in just a few years. je suis ancient.
As usual, my mum dragged me along to their wet market to get a feel of i duno wad. and .. they actually sell small snake eel thingys and display fish that are still breathing just that their entire top of their head are exposed showing pounding organs. sigh... and my mum was so excited and kept exclaiming "omg! how fresh!" oh and i saw a few of their famed game shops and to my dismay, i spotted a cat in a teeny cage. sigh...
2 days later i was off to bangkok and it wasn't as great as my previous trip though .. after getting lost for like the 53326596th time at chatuchak/jatujak weekend market. seriously. i think my parents have this hidden wish to escape on a secret rendezvous. being the independent only child, i made my way to the skytrain station by myself. thank gawd for my amazing photographic memory of directions. not to mention that they left me standing at the sidewalk along a huge expressway looking main road and charged across the traffic without me.
thanks mom & dad. -_- oui! allons! embark on ur adventure while ur cowardy dotter had to cross the street using the overhead bridge. hmmppff...

one thing i noticed in both countries...
